Buzzing Beauty

Bees play a very important role in our ecosystem, with honey bees the most valuable pollinators in the world. Not only do bees pollinate one third of the food we consume but they also pollinate 75 percent of the world's flowering plants. To help celebrate World Bee Day on the 20th of May, we bring you some of our favourite beauty products that owe their benefits to the humble bee.

Enriched with Manuka honey, the Miracle Balm from SeeMy Cosmetics is a rich balm that melts into your skin to nourish it. From moisturising your lips to strengthening your nails when applied around your cuticles, the balm really is a miracle with its multi-fold benefits.

Made with a blend of Ouessant honey and Royal Jelly, Guerlain's Abeille Royale Eye R Repair Serum works to lift and smooth the eye area, and with its luxurious gold drop applicator a precise dose is delivered and you can lightly massage the area with it, reviving and opening up your eyes. To help celebrate World Bee Day, Guerlain will be donating 20% of its worldwide sales of all its products, including the eye serum, to the Guerlain for Bees Conservation Programme from the 20th to the 22nd of May.

If you need an extra injection of moisture to your daily skincare routine dip into Wishful's Honey Balm Jelly Moisturiser. The refreshing honey-infused jelly-meets-balm moisturiser works to hydrate your skin for up to 24 hours, leaving you with softer skin.

Make sure you don't neglect your body when it comes to moisturising. Mademoiselle Bio specialises in organic products and includes this nourishing body milk made with honey and shea butter. The milk repairs and hydrates your skin, and as it is absorbed quickly, it doesn't leave a greasy trace behind.

To give your skin a burst of moisture and to replenish it almost immediately try the Refreshing Hydrating Booster from Apivita's Aqua Beelicious line of skincare products. Used on its own or before your moisturiser, the booster is infused with honey and rose essential oil and promises to leave you with revitalised skin.

Your hair can also benefit from a pot of honey. Treat your tresses to a weekly mask with Rodolphe & Co's Hydrating Hair Mask and be left with gorgeous shiny hair thanks to its ingredients of organic honey, shea butter and argan oil.

To celebrate both World Bee Day and your new honey-honed skincare routine pop open a bottle of Bulles de Ruche by Beeche, a sparkling wine made by fermenting honey. Bulles de Ruche, which literally means beehive bubbles in French, can be enjoyed chilled, on its own or mixed into cocktails.
