The NGV showcases the magnificence of French Impressionism through its latest exhibition dedicated to the masters of the art including Monet and Renoir.

The NGV has transformed into a French chateau celebrating the mastery of impressionism through masterpieces by Monet, Renoir, Degas and Pissarro. The French Impressionism exhibition is a whirlwind experience of romance and escapism through paintings that depict Normandy, Giverny and the artists' studios. With more than 100 paintings, the exhibition is your invitation to France and an art-filled society that has shaped the art world today. Highlights of the show are the red gallery with Renoir's Dance at Bougival and the gallery dedicated to the works of Claude Monet, which showcases 16 canvases, creating the next best thing to being in the Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris surrounded by Monet's Water Lilies. This exhibition is a wonderful exposure to the art of impressionism and if you have not travelled to Europe this year then this is a beautiful way to escape into a space that takes you straight from Melbourne to 19th century France.
