The sun is making its way into Melbourne and it is shining on the courtyard at one of our new favourite Italian restaurants, Il Caminetto.

If you can't get a table at Shop 225, which was recently awarded the title of best pizzeria in Australia, we are eagerly wanting to suggest the same team's sister eatery Il Caminetto. Just like Shop 225, Il Caminetto serves delicious pizza, which in our opinion could steal Shop 225's crown in next year's ranking. The menu here includes dishes from different regions in Italy, taking your tastebuds on a delectable voyage. Start with the frittatina di pasta cacio e pepe, beautifully crumbed and deep fried croquettes with cacio cheese and black pepper served with creamy pecorino sauce or try the golden pumpkin arancini served on a bed of pumpkin purée. Mains include seafood linguine and eggplant parmigiana, perfect for vegetarians. If you have a sweet tooth then be sure to leave room for the tiramisu with the classic Italian dessert served in a glass giving you a peek into the delightful layers of coffee-soaked biscuits and mascarpone. And just like Shop 225, Il Caminetto accommodates pretty much every dietary restriction, with dishes served in different variations, from vegetarian to vegan to gluten-free.
