Two of the world's most iconic fashion designers are coming together at the NGV for Westwood I Kawakubo, an outstanding fashion exhibition that brings together the designs of Vivienne Westwood and Rei Kawakubo.

The works of the contemporaries have never been exhibited together, making this avant-garde show an exceptional and monumental exhibition. Rei Kawakubo's designs for her label Comme des Garçons are without a doubt a work of art with dresses designed as they were sculptures, creating wearable art with voluminous and tailored pieces that have become iconic over the years, while Vivienne Westwood's designs demonstrate the designer's passion for form and London's punk era with her signature tartan print ever present.
The NGV exhibition and the visionary styles of the Westwood and Kawakubo are presented in five themes, Punk and Provocation, Rupture, Reinvention, The Body: Freedom and Restraint, and finally The Power of Clothes. The designs from the two fashion greats are not showcased in chronological order nor by designer, but rather they are presented side by side, by theme, demonstrating how two designers, from two different worlds, have both shaped the world of fashion in parallel form.
The Westwood I Kawakubo exhibition is an exceptional event not to be missed by anyone who loves fashion and the arts with highlights of the show including runway footage and iconic designs including the wedding dress worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City: The Movie.
